Why would you ever go abroad with your family?

At home, we live a fairly routine life, with friends who are similar to us in many ways and a comfortable set of activities. It’s easy for kids to get settled, and begin to believe their comfortable lives are the norm for everyone. Travel shakes that up, excites and educates.

When people become parents, it doesn’t mean they should stop travelling. It also doesn’t mean that parents are required to bring the kids along on every trip (I enjoy travel as a parent without the little ones).

OK, so you can’t go out all night (although some countries like Spain & Italy are pretty accommodating to children), but you get to see a new side of town and experience destinations through fresh eyes. Yes you have to be more prepared and think ahead a little bit: clothes, bedding, bottles, toys, snacks etc.. Ideally you will train your child not to be a fussy eater, and you’re on the way.

Besides my perfect excuse of having to try out all the Baby Travel Shop new travel products, we feel that spending quality and quantity time together, without the routine and rules of home brings us closer together. Seeing the world through the eyes of our boys really makes for lots of FUN!

Travel Tip:
We find our travels are more enjoyable when we keep our itineraries flexible, include activities that appeal to our children, and work within their schedules for eating, sleeping and playing.
